This year marks the centenary of the discovery of the Gibraltar 2Neanderthalskull from Devil’s Tower Cave. The partial cranium of a four-year-old Neanderthal was excavated by Dorothy Garrod in 1926. To commemorate this centenary, the Gibraltar National Museum is organising an international landmark Calpe Conferenceon Neanderthals, bringing together invited speakers and contributors from a wide range of disciplines, presenting current research on Neanderthals and related subject areas.
The conference will be held at the University of Gibraltar from 2nd to 5th September 2026. The full conference programme and registration forms are available below.
Registration is required, and as in previous years, the event is free to Gibraltar residents.
