Earlier this month, the Gibraltar National Museum was delighted to lead a series of guided tours of the Moorish Castle for Year 2 pupils from Loreto Convent School as part of their classroom project on castles.

Led by the Museum's Senior Guide, Phil Smith, the pupils explored the history and significance of Gibraltar's most important medieval fortification. Following the line of the castle walls, they learned about the castle's strategic position, its role in defending Gibraltar, and how its various elements formed part of a much larger defensive complex.

Visits such as these provide an opportunity for young people to engage directly with Gibraltar's heritage and to connect classroom learning with the historic places that form part of their local environment.

We would like to thank the staff and pupils of Loreto Convent School for taking part and for sharing these photographs. We are also especially grateful for the wonderful thank you card presented to Phil following the tours, a thoughtful gesture that was greatly appreciated.

The Gibraltar National Museum remains committed to supporting schools through educational visits, guided tours and learning activities that help bring Gibraltar's rich history and heritage to life.
